The crazy litter names for
Potholder's litter were originally for a
rat named "Crazy" Nikki, but
when there were complications with Nikki's
pregnancy and the litter never happened,
the litter names were then given to 'Kan'Ta's
litter. |

| Cause of Death: |
Cause of death was a chronic mycoplama infection.
Necropsy was
performed by MSU's DCPAH:
Gross necropsy showed
that the lungs were mottled pale pink to
dark red, with minimal consolidation.
The stomach and intestinal tract
were moderately to markedly dilated, with
scant contents.
No other gross abnormalities were
observed.
Gross diagnosis of the lungs showed
mottled pulmonary parenchyma.
Histopathologic examination showed that the lungs had
severe, chronic, active necrotizing
bronchitis with intrabronchial lipid-laden
macrophages and marked BALT hyperplasia.
Findings are histologically
suggestive of Mycoplasma pneumonia.
Lipid pneumonia with arteriolar
hyperplasia, consistent with the changes
in the lungs, suggests chronic mycoplasma
infection. |
